The things clients ask most before and after a torque fitting session, answered plainly.
What exactly is shaft torque, and why build a studio around it?
Torque measures how much a shaft twists around its own axis as clubhead lag releases into the ball. It shapes when your face actually closes through impact — a variable most shops skip past on the way to a flex recommendation. We measure it directly, on every fitting.
Do I need to be a low-handicap player to benefit from this?
No. Torque mismatches affect golfers at every level — higher-handicap players often see the largest gains, since off-the-rack shafts are rarely matched to slower or more variable tempos.
How long does a fitting session run?
Single-club sessions (driver, fairway wood, hybrid, wedge, or putter) run 45–60 minutes. Iron set fittings run 60–90 minutes. A full bag assessment typically runs 2–3 hours.
Am I obligated to purchase clubs after a fitting?
No. There's never an obligation to buy. You'll receive a full written torque-and-fit report with our recommendations regardless, and if you do order, your fitting fee is credited toward the build.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring your current clubs relevant to the fitting, the shoes you normally wear on the course, and a rough sense of your typical scores or handicap if you know it.
Isn't picking a shaft by torque the same as picking by flex?
Not quite. Flex describes overall bend stiffness; torque describes twist resistance specifically. Two shafts with an identical flex letter can carry noticeably different torque ratings, which is the gap we're measuring for.
How soon do I get my new clubs after ordering?
Most builds are completed on our own bench within one week of ordering, since we stock components and build in-house rather than routing orders through an outside factory.
Do you fit left-handed golfers?
Yes. Our demo wall carries left-handed heads across every major category, and our measurement equipment works identically for right- and left-handed players.
Can I book a fitting if I already like my current clubs?
Absolutely — many clients come in just to verify their current torque and lie specs are still correct, especially after a reshaft or regrip elsewhere.
What areas do you serve outside Providence?
Our studio sits in downtown Providence, and we regularly see golfers from across Rhode Island, including Cranston, Warwick, and Pawtucket.
